Retirement Age for Women in Ukraine
Retirement Age for Women in Ukraine
The retirement age for women in Ukraine was gradually increased from 55 to 60. The transitional rules depended on a woman’s date of birth. The table below shows the retirement age established for women born during the relevant periods.

| Up to 30 September 1956 | 55 years |
| 1 October 1956 – 31 March 1957 | 55 years 6 months |
| 1 April 1957 – 30 September 1957 | 56 years |
| 1 October 1957 – 31 March 1958 | 56 years 6 months |
| 1 April 1958 – 30 September 1958 | 57 years |
| 1 October 1958 – 31 March 1959 | 57 years 6 months |
| 1 April 1959 – 30 September 1959 | 58 years |
| 1 October 1959 – 31 March 1960 | 58 years 6 months |
| 1 April 1960 – 30 September 1960 | 59 years |

Important: this table reflects the transitional increase in the retirement age for women from 55 to 60 and is primarily relevant to women born between 1956 and 1961.
Under the current Ukrainian pension system, reaching a particular age is not the only condition for receiving an old-age pension. Entitlement also depends on the length of the person’s insurance record. Therefore, reaching the age of 60 does not automatically mean that a person is entitled to an old-age pension from that date.
The required insurance record depends on the year in which the person reaches the relevant retirement age. If the insurance record required for retirement at 60 is insufficient, entitlement to an old-age pension may arise at the age of 63 or 65, subject to the statutory requirements.
Different retirement-age rules may apply to persons entitled to an old-age pension on preferential terms, including certain employees who worked under harmful or particularly difficult working conditions, as well as other categories for whom Ukrainian legislation provides the possibility of early retirement.
