Pension Calculator in Ukraine: How to Calculate Your Pension
In practice, people often start planning for retirement long before they actually apply for a pension. One of the most common questions is: how much will my future pension be in Ukraine?
For this reason, numerous online services are available that allow individuals to estimate their future pension. These services are commonly referred to as a pension calculator or retirement pension calculator.
However, it should be noted that pension calculations are based on the formulas and indicators established by the Law of Ukraine “On Compulsory State Pension Insurance.” In particular, the pensionable service coefficient is calculated according to the formula provided for in Article 25 of the Law:
Ks = (Sm × Vs) / (100% × 12)
where:
Ks – pensionable insurance service coefficient;
Sm – total number of months of pensionable insurance service;
Vs – value assigned to one year of pensionable insurance service (as a percentage).
Once the pensionable service coefficient is known, it can be used to calculate the estimated pension amount. The general formula is:
P = Zp × Ks
where:
P – the amount of the pension;
Zp – the salary determined in accordance with Article 40 of the Law of Ukraine “On Compulsory State Pension Insurance” and used for calculating the pension;
Ks – the pensionable insurance service coefficient.
Using an online pension calculator for Ukraine can provide an approximate estimate of your future pension. However, the amount calculated by the Pension Fund of Ukraine may differ from your own estimate. Such discrepancies may arise because certain periods of employment, salary information, certificates, or other documents have not been taken into account when calculating the pension.
If there is a significant difference between your calculations and the pension awarded by the Pension Fund, it is advisable to carry out a detailed independent pension calculation and determine which indicators were used by the Pension Fund of Ukraine. Where errors are identified, an appropriate application or complaint may be submitted requesting a pension recalculation.
In some cases, it may be necessary to protect pension rights through administrative court proceedings. However, depending on the circumstances, the issue may be resolved by submitting an application, obtaining the necessary documents, or filing a complaint with the Pension Fund of Ukraine.
If you want to verify whether your pension has been calculated correctly, our Pension Center can conduct an independent pension calculation, analyze your pensionable service and earnings, and compare our calculations with those made by the Pension Fund of Ukraine. If it is established that your pension has been underpaid, we can also assist with seeking a recalculation and recovery of pension arrears in accordance with Ukrainian legislation.
